Why you should visit the Grand Mesa this fall
In my opinion the Grand Mesa is best visited in the fall where you can enjoying the quaking Aspen leaves. However, it can be enjoyed any time of year and many activities are free!
Visiting the Grand Mesa of Colorado is a surreal feast for the senses. Nestled at an elevation of over 10,000 feet, it's considered the world's largest flat-topped mountain. The sprawling tableau burst into myriad hues with more than 300 lakes reflecting the azure sky and dense woods cloaking its plateaus in a rich emerald.
Uncountable trails intertwine across its vast expanse, inviting hikers and bikers to indulge in exhilarating adventures, while the landscape morphs into a tranquil, snow-kissed wonderland for skiing and snowmobiling in the winters. Wildlife enthusiasts delight in spotting mule deer, elk, and myriad avian species.
On clear nights, the star-studded sky is an astral spectacle that leaves one completely spellbound. There’s many areas for dispersed camping or dirt roads you can drive down and wander. You can also get a permit and cut your own Christmas tree here!
Mention of the Grand Mesa is incomplete without its feast of wildflowers, where vibrant patches of color dot the green in the summers. A trip to the Grand Mesa leaves you with vibrant memories etched into your heart forever. End of September marks the beginning of Leaf Peeping season here, so plan a trip and enjoy a day up here!
