What do you think of when you think of South Africa? I think of lions, zebras, maybe a giraffe showing up while I eat breakfast and poking his head in the window to steal some French toast. I also think of wine, wine safaris and warm breezes and flows dresses. What I don’t think about is the extremely long flight to get to South Africa. I mean, how does anyone fly in the sky for that long?
There’s also an element of danger when traveling to Africa. The poverty in the country is extreme and coupled with a corrupt government and civil unrest, well there’s a lot of petty crime. You don’t want to walk around by yourself. You watch your back getting money from an ATM. You don’t pull out your phone in public or it might get stolen. You also take Uber’s and stay away from the taxi services there which have a war going on amongst each other. There’s load shedding where the power will go out for 4-6 hours at a time. This is why, when it came to planning a retreat in South Africa, I decided to curate the experience with IamFit4Travel which is the retreat company I’ve used for my Greece, Italy and Costa Rica retreats.
Fit4Travel is amazing because they curate everything and out of the three retreats I’ve done with them, I’ve always felt safe with their choice of hotels, shuttle drivers, tour guides and activities. A trip like South Africa is certainly a bucket-list experience, but one you don’t want to worry about. I mean, I’ve done my research on the country and what to do and what not to do, because I’d rather go in knowing what to expect and how to be safe, than be blindsided and naive. However, that’s also what’s nice about group travel is there is safety in numbers and right now this trip has 11 participants so it is confirmed!

I have had a few guests ask me about the domestic flight. How it works is, Fit4Travel will book the tickets for the group the invoice the guests after. We get a group discount based on how many are going so the cost for that isn’t set yet. I would imagine it would be somewhere around $250, but don’t hold me to it.
So why go to South Africa? For one, it’s a beautiful country. Where else can you see wild animals just doing their thing before they go extinct. Also, it’s where some of the best wines in the world are made and one of the best places to enjoy wine and the beauty of the mountains. Also, when else are you going to get to kayak with penguins and hike to a beautiful mountaintop overlooking the city?
If you are prepared for the journey of a lifetime I hope you’ll join me!
I know I often say I’ll return back to these countries for a future retreat, but this is one country I will probably not be returning to logistics wise…and if I do it will be 5 years in the future. Now is your chance to see and do it all with ease!
Questions? Message me anytime. If you can’t make it, rest assured I’ll tell you all about it when I return!
