Hello dear readers! Sorry for the delay in posting the second set of our Costa Rican Adventure. But, not to worry, if you are thinking of visiting Costa Rica this fall or winter, then this will be timely insight for you! If you haven’t read part one you can find that newsletter here.
We transferred from Arenal to Potrero Beach and it was about a 6 hour drive with a planned stop for lunch (highly recommended) and a visit to Las Pumas Rescue Center to visit the native Costa Rican animals. If heading to Potrero and you have the time, I highly recommend a stop at the rescue center. It’s mostly self-guided and though it seems a little “hokey” for lack of a better word, it’s a great opportunity to see pumas, sloths and monkeys. Most of the animals here have been found in the wild hurt or sick and rehabilitated although if they were seized from being owned illegally they cannot be returned to the wild. They are open Monday - Saturday 8am-4pm and cost is children (4-12 years old): $8, Students (more than 12 years old) and Seniors:$8, Adults: $12. It is a nice way to break up the drive and to see some of the local animals that you wouldn’t normally see.
