This past weekend we discovered the magic of Paddle Boarding at Lake Irwin right outside of Crested Butte! 🏄♀️🌊
Escape the hustle and bustle of town and embark on a paddle boarding adventure at the stunning Lake Irwin in Crested Butte! 🌟 Nestled amidst the breathtaking beauty of the Rocky Mountains, this pristine lake offers a serene setting for water enthusiasts of all levels. 🏞️ Glide across the crystal-clear waters, surrounded by towering peaks and lush forests, as you immerse yourself in the tranquility of nature. While there is parking, this area does tend to fill up on weekends so try to arrive early for the best spot. Parking is free and there is a pit toilet at the lake. No paddle board rentals available so bring your own or rent in town.
To reach Lake Irwin from town, drive up Kebler Pass and follow County Road 12 until you reach County Road 826 and enjoy a scenic drive through the picturesque landscape. 🚗 There is primitive camping along the road in designated spots only. As you wind your way through the mountains, you'll be greeted by awe-inspiring views at every turn. After approximately 10 miles, you'll arrive at the parking area for Lake Irwin, where you can unload your paddle board and gear. Also note I have Verizon and there was no cell service here so plan accordingly!
Even though this area gets busy there’s plenty of room to spread out. There’s limited shade however, so it might be a good idea to bring a sunshade or hat. There is no services like water or food so pack a cooler! There is also a small waterfall hike in the area although we didn’t check it out. Whether you're seeking adventure or relaxation, Lake Irwin is the perfect destination for a day of paddle boarding bliss. 🌅 So pack your sunscreen, grab your paddle, and set course for an unforgettable experience on the tranquil waters of Lake Irwin! 🌿✨ #PaddleBoarding #LakeIrwin #CrestedButteAdventure
I will be sharing another favorite lake off and Kebler pass where you can hike to 3 lakes and paddle board and fish for trout so stay tuned!
